New Officers Named to Thunderbirds Team

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds have announced the selection of four new officers who will join the team for the 2026 and 2027 air show seasons.

 

      • Major Samuel “RaZZ” Larson, currently Director of Operations for the 71st Fighter Squadron at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, will serve as Thunderbird 8. Major Larson served as the F-22 Raptor demonstration pilot during the 2023 and 2024 air show seasons.

      • Major Megan “CASTRO” Berberich, Flight Surgeon with the 524th Special Operations Squadron at Duke Field, Florida, will serve as Thunderbird 9.
    •  
      • Captain Susan “Fuego” McLeod, Chief of Maintenance Tactics with the 48th Maintenance Group at RAF Lakenheath, England, has been selected as Thunderbird 11.
    •  
      • Captain Hannah Durbin, Chief of Public Affairs for the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess AFB, Texas, will become Thunderbird 12.

 

The newly selected officers will remain at their current duty stations until officially joining the Thunderbirds this fall.

 

Earlier this year, the team announced that Lieutenant Colonel Daniel “Rage” Trueblood, currently serving as commander of the 77th Fighter Squadron at Shaw AFB, will assume command of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds from Colonel Nathan “Sheik” Malafa at the conclusion of the 2025 air show season.
