Bill Barber Award Winner Named

July 20th, 2023

Nathan Hammond has been named the recipient of the 2023 Bill Barber Award for Showmanship. The award recognizes outstanding performers who have made a significant impact on the air show industry. In under a decade as an airshow performer, Hammond has established himself as a remarkably innovative and creative talent. His captivating night airshow features wing-mounted pyrotechnics and awe-inspiring LED lights. Hammond also played a crucial role in developing impressive theme acts like Adventures of Aviore, showcased at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and is currently serving as a member of the ICAS Board of Directors.

Hammond's deep aviation roots and early experiences propelled him to become a skilled pilot, eventually taking over the SkyDancer deHavilland Super Chipmunk and renaming it GhostWriter. His contributions extend beyond his own performances, as he has been instrumental in organizing the Black Flag airshow training camps, offering coaching and mentoring opportunities to both seasoned and aspiring airshow pilots. The Bill Barber Award for Showmanship will be presented during the 2023 EAA AirVenture event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Tuesday, July 25th.
