| Normally, the annual pilot safety de-brief provides air show performers with a chance to de-brief the just-completed air show season. This year, this session will step back to take a somewhat broader view of air show safety. A former Hellenic (Greek) Air Force fighter pilot, Karahalios recently completed a safety culture assessment survey of air show pilots from around the world as part of his Master’s degree research. Nearly 150 pilots participated, providing helpful insight on their perspective on the nature of the safety culture within the air show community and their collective opinions on how to improve professionalism and reduce the accident rate in the demanding low-level aerobatic environment. |
